Network and Hardware Requirements

The following recommendation takes into consideration that the Server and Work Stations will be a shared resource (non-exclusive to ManEx). You probably will run email, word processor, spreadsheet and other software. The more programs you have the more hardware resources (especially more DRAM) you will need to ensure satisfactory system performance.

If you find that the server is not ready but want to get started with ManEx implementation, you can install ManEx in one of the work station that complies with requirements below. Start loading the setup information and data and start the training while the updating or new server is being prepared.

File Server

Single or Multiple Pentium Computer with 256MB ECC or SD RAM for first 10 Users (add additional (approx) 32MB memory per additional user). Recommend minimum 30GB HDD (Mirrored and/or RAID if possible for better data protection), CD or DVD Drive, Tape Back-up, Anti Virus Software, One or more 100 Base Server NIC card with CPU and Memory built-in + Load Balancing Software. UPS, 100 Base Switch or Router and Category 5-E Network Cabling.

Network OS

Microsoft Windows 2000 or 2003 Server.

Work Station

Recommended - Pentium Computer, 128MB - 512MB SDRAM, 20GB+ HDD, Sound Card & Speakers, 100 Base NIC and MS Clint (network software), 15", 17" or 19" Monitor. UPS for critical stations, Windows98/XP or Windows2000 Work Station and IE6+ version.

Minimum Requirement - Pentium Computer with 128MB DRAM, 10GB HDD, 10 or 100Base NIC and MS Clint (network software), 14" SVGA Monitor, Win98.

Limit the number of Modems, FDD and CD/DVD ROM in workstation for preventing potential virus and data security problems.

Printer

Laser printers, inkjet printers, and at least one wide carriage printer required for certain reports

Report Writing

Microsoft Access
Microsoft Excel Spread Sheet Program
Lotus Approach
Crystal Reports (commercially available report writer for producing custom reports)

Data Manipulation

Microsoft Visual Foxpro, Excel, Access, Approach, etc.

Data Repair

dSalvage or equivalent tool (data analysis and repair tool)

File Transfer & Communications

Internet access (using FTP)
Internet E-Mail
pcAnywhere by Symantec for remote communication
RAS Remote Capability

Customer environments can vary considerably in terms of Local Area Network topology, network traffic, number of users, competing applications, remote connections, network equipment, and what other applications are running on the server(s). There are also differences between customer expectations in response time and how many concurrent applications will be running at any given time on any given workstation.

Periodically, ManEx updates its standard product in order to stay current with the state of the art or to add functionality or additional module options. This increase in functionality or capabilities may increase the ManEx supports a current version of its product that will also change hardware requirements.
